Potluck dinner beginning at 5:00 P.M.
Presentation by Julie Burns at 5:45 P.M.
Come for a potluck dinner (no pork or shellfish, please) and then hear Julie Burns, Executive Director of RIZE Massachusetts, FJC's Tzedakah box recipient through August. RIZE is a non-profit initiative committed to halting the state's opioid epidemic and mitigating its devastating long-term effects on our communities.
From RIZE's website (https://rizema.org/):
Massachusetts has been disproportionately affected by the opioid epidemic. Since 2013, the state has seen a 60% increase in opioid overdose deaths.
As the state continues to address this crisis, it is time for a collective effort to strengthen and enhance the work that is being done.
RIZE Massachusetts is a state-wide, private sector initiative created to build a $50 million fund focused on bringing real and lasting change to those struggling with substance use disorders in the Commonwealth. Work supported by this fund will address the opioid epidemic through a full continuum of programs from prevention to long-term sustainable recovery, and focus on the specific areas where more resources are immediately necessary.
